PLANT OPENING IN BUSSI / PESCARA, ITALY |

Silysiamont
SpA., Milano, Italy has opened its
newly constructed European plant for micronized
silica. The inauguration took place in Bussi sul
Tirino on Sept. 24, 02 in the presence of governmental,
regional and local authorities including guests
from many European countries.
This latest state of the art plant for micronized
silica has a nameplate capacity of several thousand
tons and is dedicated primarily to the European
market place.

Silysiamont
S.p.A.
was created on April 7, 2000 as a 50/50 Joint
venture between
Solvay/Ausimont S.p.A., Milano, Italy,
Leader in fluorocarbon compounds and
Fuji Silysia Chemical Ltd., Nagoya/Osaka,
Japan,
specializing in silica based materials.

Fuji
Silysia Chemical Ltd. is operating 2 plants in Japan
and one in Greenville, NC.
Silysiamont is now starting to produce
the Fuji Silysia Chemical Ltd. Product range of
micronized silica gels "SYLYSIA®"
This covers the whole range of applications from
matting agents for coatings, antiblocking agents
for plastic films through to additives for paper
and pharmaceuticals. The respective product properties
range from low to very high porosity, high to
low surface area and suitable ranges of particle
size.
The "SYLYSIA®" product range is
known for its very high quality standards with
regard to uniformity and reproducibility as well
as for its dedication to superior surface feel,
appearance and finish in the coatings sector and
optical clarity in the plastics sector.
With the new Italian plant operating, Silysiamont is
now in a position to increase availability and
in addition has now the capacity to modify and
adapt selected products for specialized needs
of certain key customers.
